Water Changes Everything

When was the last time you drank a nice cold glass of filtered water? Probably not too long ago. Most of us don’t even think about the water we drink. It’s cold, it tastes good for the most part, and we never really have to worry about something bad in the water, much less catching a disease from it.

But a lot of people in the world have those concerns because the water they drink isn’t purified, and it’s filled with all sorts of bacteria and disease, and yet, it’s the only water they have access to. Some people have to walk many miles just to get dirty water to cook and clean with. But in many of these places, clean water is there, it’s just not accessible, it’s deep down in the earth.

Charity: water was started by Scott Harrison who saw this problem first hand and wanted to do something about it. What charity: water does is raise money and send it out to different partner organizations who are working in the different countries and communities and they send the money to build or repair wells and give the communities clean water.

So here’s the deal. As a band, we decided to give 10% of our merchandise sales to charity: water this year. It’s not much, but it’s doable. The second part of it is that we want you to get involved with us. Check out our campaign HERE and consider making a donation. If you want to get even more involved, why don’t you give up your birthday to bring people clean water?

After the campaign you donate to closes, charity: water will let you know where the money is going, and they’ll update you along the way. It’s a great way to be connected to the community you’re helping, and brings the world a little bit closer.

So, I encourage you, take some time to check out charity: water and what they do, and maybe make a donation to our campaign. You have nothing to lose!

Cheers,
Lauren.

World Water Day

Today is WORLD WATER DAY…it’s all about conserving water and helping people who don’t have clean water get access to it. So, I wanted to bring attention to our charity: water campaign! Charity: water raises money and sends it out to the field to build wells for communities that don’t have access to clean water. Often, women and children have to walk many kilometers to get to a source of water, only to find it dirty and riddled with diseases. The worst part is that in so many places there is perfectly clean water right below them, but it takes people and resources to access that water.

So, in light of World Water Day, please make a donation to our charity: water campaign to help us reach $1500, 100% of which will go towards building a well for a community that needs it.

You can check out our campaign at www.mycharitywater.org/laurenmannmusic

And you can find more about charity: water at www.charitywater.org.

Let’s be thankful for the abundant resources we have in North America, and maybe go beyond ourselves a bit to provide others with those resources.

Water Changes Everything

There’s a lot happening in the world these days like poverty, hunger, disease, war, and other social and economic issues. We want to do our part to help overcome those things, but it’s often hard to know where to invest, and how to make any sort of difference.

We found this organization called charity: water, who raises money and sends 100% of that money to the field to build wells in communities that don’t have access to clean water. They partner with on-the-ground organizations and local communities to build wells that best suit the environment so everyone can have the clean water that’s often right there, just not accessible.

After reading a lot about charity: water and looking at how they do things, we decided we wanted to get in on this. So this year, we’ve decided to take 10% of all the money we make from merchandise and give it to charity: water to help build some wells around the world.

That’s our goal, but we want YOU to be involved as well. We started a campaign at www.mycharitywater.org/laurenmannmusic and if you’d like, you can donate to our campaign as well. Over the course of the year, I’d love to raise at least $5000, which is approximately how much one well costs, but for our first campaign (they last three months) our goal is $1500.

Please visit our campaign page and give generously. A community somewhere in the world will have their lives changed by clean water!

Let’s change the world.

-Lauren.
