When was the last time you drank a nice cold glass of filtered water? Probably not too long ago. Most of us don’t even think about the water we drink. It’s cold, it tastes good for the most part, and we never really have to worry about something bad in the water, much less catching a disease from it.
But a lot of people in the world have those concerns because the water they drink isn’t purified, and it’s filled with all sorts of bacteria and disease, and yet, it’s the only water they have access to. Some people have to walk many miles just to get dirty water to cook and clean with. But in many of these places, clean water is there, it’s just not accessible, it’s deep down in the earth.
Charity: water was started by Scott Harrison who saw this problem first hand and wanted to do something about it. What charity: water does is raise money and send it out to different partner organizations who are working in the different countries and communities and they send the money to build or repair wells and give the communities clean water.
So here’s the deal. As a band, we decided to give 10% of our merchandise sales to charity: water this year. It’s not much, but it’s doable. The second part of it is that we want you to get involved with us. Check out our campaign HERE and consider making a donation. If you want to get even more involved, why don’t you give up your birthday to bring people clean water?
After the campaign you donate to closes, charity: water will let you know where the money is going, and they’ll update you along the way. It’s a great way to be connected to the community you’re helping, and brings the world a little bit closer.
So, I encourage you, take some time to check out charity: water and what they do, and maybe make a donation to our campaign. You have nothing to lose!
Cheers,
Lauren.
