Waking Up in Beautiful Places

Tour has a way of taking us to unexpected places. Sometimes we shake the dust of our feet and move along, and sometimes we never want to leave. This tour has taken us to some unexpected beautiful places that I still can’t believe we have been able to go to, particularly in the last week when we spent time in two very different, but beautiful places.

The first is St. Simon’s Island, GA. Last year we met the lovely Jim and Gina (you can find Gina’s blog HERE) and since our first meeting, we really hit it off with them. You could say that they’re somewhat of kindred spirits, and that is a really special thing to find! Being that we’re always on tour and always on the move, we haven’t had much of a chance to spend time with them until last week when we had a full day off on the island where they live on the coast of Georgia. It was incredibly peaceful, and inspiring, and a much needed day of rest and friendship. I took a walk in the evening to the touristy part of the island to check out the shops, and the ocean view, and of course, marvel at the beauty of the Spanish Moss that hung from all the old oak trees.

Two days later I woke up in a little mountain house in Sylva, NC in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The temperature had dropped, the sky was overcast, and the leaves were an array of greens, golds, and reds. It was a lot different than Georgia, but beautiful in a totally different way, and I have to say that I was really excited to get back into a fall climate that I’m more used to. I got out my scarves and sweaters and got nice and cozy with some knitting and went for a walk into the woods.

I hope that you’re all having a wonderful fall season, and that all of you Canadians had a great Thanksgiving weekend! We were definitely missing our families and Thanksgiving dinners, but we’re having a great time on tour, and my mission for our next few days off is to make a pumpkin pie!

Until next time,
Lauren.

P.S. If you haven’t heard, we’re offering our album Over Land and Sea for free download HERE, and we also just started a funding campaign for our new record that you can check it out HERE ! We’d love it if you would check it out and share with your friends! Thanks for all the support you’ve given us so far, it’s been very encouraging!
