After our show in Bend, OR at Players Bar we didn’t have anywhere to sleep so I was trying to look up some cheap state park campsites that might be an option. The guy at the gas station we stopped at suggested that we go to the National Forest because apparently you are able to camp pretty much anywhere in National Forests and it’s free! So we drove into the Deschutes National Forest and found a little pull-out from the main road with a flat area and we set up camp. When we woke up in the morning, the sun was already beating down on us, and we were surrounded by trees, scrubby bushes, and lots of dust, and even some bones from some poor unfortunate creature who had lost to the desert. We used our “emergency” water (an old plastic jug that we always keep full) to wash our faces and brush our teeth, and luckily we had some toilet paper on hand because there were definitely no toilets around! It was definitely roughing it, but we fared well.
Tonight we’re driving south to make our way (slowly) to LA where our next show is and we’re planning on hitting up Shasta National Forest to spend the night! I’ll let you know how it goes. 🙂
